The photos of the bombed school
Here is how the school of Gorla appeared before the incursion of October 20, 1944.
Due to the high number of children in the neighborhood, the lessons took place in two shifts; the air attack occurred at 11.25 in the morning, so the afternoon shifters were not involved in the collapse.
The part of the school building involved was exactly where the stairs were, while they were crowded with children trying to reach the shelter below, but without success.
The desks remained in their place as if nothing had happened, but the children will not return to class tomorrow.
The rescues, although immediate, for almost all the children proved to be in vain.
In the lower part of the picture we can see some men, probably Firemen, intent on digging.

My God, I thank you for saving my life and I pray you with folded hands, with all my heart, to avenge my poor little brothers barbarously killed by the Liberators.
