What we appreciate ...

The collective participation of civil society with the presence of associations absent in previous years, regardless of political orientation. This year for the first time a torchlight procession took place on the towpath of the nearby Naviglio Martesana, with arrival at the Monument, with the aim of keeping the historical memory alive in the population.

Hoping that the presence of Civil Authorities in the coming years will not be limited to offices of Municipal, Provincial or Regional levels, but remember us in Rome, as it happens with other massacres belonging to the war period of our national history.

The decision of the Municipality of Milan (road sector - urban furniture) to carry out a redevelopment work on the Little Martyrs' square which provides for the closure of the car traffic in the area with the creation of a pedestrian area and the restructuring of the nearby old bridge, as well as the formation of a new, albeit small, garden with some benches.

For some years now, the October 20th Ceremony held at the Monument is attended by a man who we never expected to meet in the past decades, Professor Robert Bloomhuff, a native of the United States but currently living near our city.

Passionate about the events of the Second World War, after learning about the history of the Little Martyrs of Gorla, he felt compelled to meet the few survivors still present to express, albeit personally, his apologies for what was caused that day from the American aviation.

He also wanted to make the students of his Lyceum participate in the beautiful gesture, taking them to visit the Monument and the Crypt.

To most it may seem a formal thing, but let us realize the meaning of the gesture, to apologize, of which they were not able to do the US Consuls succeeded in over seventy years.

well done Robert, Thanks ...
