The refusal by the United States Consul in Milan to send the day of Commemoration even just a simple bouquet of flowers, not so much to acknowledge their faults, but as a demonstration of Christian charity towards dead children.

From our research on the network we have instead found a site where the "veterans", the pilots of the B24 Liberator, self-praise the missions they carried out, as if it were a video game, without questioning whether such "missions" have really served to bring down the regime that governed Italy or have (in this as in many other occasions throughout the peninsula) caused only the death of tens of thousands of innocent civilians ...
A few hundred meters from the Monument, going up the Martesana canal in the direction of Crescenzago, since 1978 there is an area that the Municipality wanted to save from building speculation with the creation of a large park: 156.557 square meters.

Over the decades, thanks also to the collaboration of Neighborhood Associations, the area has been enriched by the Municipality with an amphitheater structure for events, play areas for children and more.

In May 2006 the Mayor of the time, Gabriele Albertini, decided to name the park to the "Iraqi Martyrs of Freedom victims of terrorism" hoping for a similar initiative in all civilized nations.
More than not pleased, the thing that leaves us perplexed is the choice to have completely omitted (even if he was aware of it) that in the vicinity there were 200 Italian Martyrs of Freedom to remember.
What could have been a better occasion than this: an entire park with playgrounds for today's children, in memory of yesterday's children ...
We would like to know, dear Mayor Albertini, if your colleague from Baghdad has dedicated not a park, but simply a school or a street to the Little Martyrs of Gorla, Milan, Italy ... but we strongly doubt it!

The inertia of the Municipality of Milan in implementing concrete measures to regulate traffic in the Small Martyrs Square: situations such as those in the photo above are also created due to the absence of signs that prohibit entry to large trucks by signaling the reduced width of the roadway.
